Job Summary

To carry out the product delivery processing operations within the financial markets operations, including booking of Foreign exchange and money market transactions and confirmation of settlements for both FX & MM transactions, processing Government securities bought and sold in the primary and secondary markets. Officer, Treasury Operations open role.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Financial 25 

  • Prevention of exposures to and impact of operational risks 
  • Expense control  
  • Revenue collection 

Internal business processes 40 

  • Consistency in adherence to and of application of established policies, processes, procedures and tools
  • Productivity or resource utilization standards or benchmarks 
  • Uphold an audit ready culture at all times
  • Handle interbank deals and foreign investments and make sure relevant accounting entries and liquidating the same on time of sale/ Maturity 
  • Processing of cross border settlements. 
  • Processing Nostro transfers 
  • Customer Treasury bills and Bonds  settlements 
  • Preparation of daily disposition report. 
  • Processing of Exotic Currencies payments.  
  • Maintenance of Static Data in Calypso. 
  • Booking of FX and MM transactions in Core banking system. 
  • Daily monitoring of the overrides report for correct usage of rates, monitoring the suspense report of merchant deals
  • Booking of Government securities bought or sold
  • Processing back office transaction & strict compliance to the cut-off times on settlement of deals.
  • Prepare tender documents for Treasury Bonds & Treasury Bills & ensure they are processed & passed over to the supervisor and accounting entries passed correctly
  • Process FX transaction correctly to avoid customer complaints and over statement or understatement of dealing profits and foreign currency positions.  
  • Prepare Daily and Weekly FX turnover reports for Central Bank of Kenya and ensure they are forwarded to CBK promptly after having been checked by the supervisor 
  • Clearing outstanding entries in FX suspense 
  • Reversal of long outstanding FX deals. 
  • Reversal of partially utilized FX deals for suspense reconciliation 
  • Preparation of cross border tax payment reports at the end of every month to facilitate settlement 
  • Settlement of ICAP and GFI invoices upon confirmation of a match on the deals processed by front office team. 
  • Processing of BOSS/DAAD/USD cash shipments and making follows ups on commission and revenue collection 
  • Setting up of customers/bank MT940, 950 and making sure the same is sent out to customers/banks as per their request. 
  • Nostro charges, commissions and CBK charges processing. 

Customer Service 20 

  • Timeliness and accuracy of customer FX & MM deals processing. Queries and complaints handling 
  • Processing of customer forwards and swap transaction, as well as sharing confirmations with them. 
  • Treasury back office service standards or benchmarks Support clearing BPRs 
  • Implementation of change programmes 
  • Stakeholder support through training. 
  • Handle internal and external queries relating to treasury product settlement across the group. 
  • Customer Investments: Guide Customers on investments T/Bills, open CD’s accounts, process and ensure payment is made to CBK on value date. 

Learning and growth 15 

  • Adequacy of personal & staff competence to effectively perform product delivery for the treasury operations activities within the financial markets operations. 
  • Train new staff on the Calypso system as well as treasury inputter processes.

Educational Qualifications, Experience, & Skills Required

  • University degree
  • Professional qualifications in banking would be added advantage 
  • Three-year experience in banking operations with specific experience in International Trade/Funds Transfer and foreign exchange market operations
