Job Summary

Reporting to the CoE Lead, Organisation Effectiveness & Change, the role holder will design, deliver, and sustain agile organisational operating models that enable Safaricom to execute its strategic priorities with speed, clarity, and efficiency. Acting as a trusted advisor to business and HR leadership, the position drives organisational agility, structural optimisation, job architecture, and strategic workforce planning, ensuring alignment to Safaricom’s mission and future-fit capabilities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Agile Organisation Delivery: Champion and embed agile operating models, governance, and practices across the enterprise to accelerate value delivery and customer obsession.
  • Operating Model Design: Diagnose organisational effectiveness and design fit-for-purpose structures aligned to mission and value streams; optimise spans and layers for efficiency.
  • Job Architecture & Evaluation: Govern job frameworks, lead job evaluations, and define career pathways to enable capability growth and internal equity.
  • Strategic Workforce Planning: Forecast future workforce needs, optimise resource allocation, and track utilisation against priorities to ensure agility and mission delivery.
  • Organisation Health & Metrics: Define and monitor organisational health indicators, structural efficiency, and cost metrics; leverage analytics to inform interventions.
  • Culture & Engagement: Drive cultural agility and inclusivity initiatives, foster psychological safety, and embed behaviours that support collaboration and innovation.
  • Employee Listening: Lead pulse surveys, engagement diagnostics, and organisational network analysis (ONA) to capture employee voice and translate insights into actionable change plans.
  • Change Leadership: Drive adoption of organisational change initiatives, build capability, and sustain cultural agility through structured communication and engagement plans.
  • Financial Stewardship: Translate operating model changes into budget implications, prioritise investments, and track value realisation against business cases.

Educational Qualifications, Experience, & Skills Required

  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in organisation design, effectiveness, and change management, with 5+ years in senior roles within complex, multi-market organisations (telecom, FMCG, fintech, or technology sectors preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Organisation Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, Economics or related field or equivalent qualification(s) from a recognized institution of higher learning; MBA or Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • Member in good standing of the Institute of Human Resource Management or a relevant recognized professional body.
  • Certified Human Resource Professional, Kenya (CHRP, K)
  • Professional certifications in Agile Leadership, Organisation Design, Change Management (e.g., SAFe Agile, Prosci, CIPD) are highly desirable.

  • Mastery of Organisation Effectiveness & Change concepts and application, including agile operating models, organisation design principles, and change leadership frameworks.
  • Strong diagnostic capability to assess organisational performance, identify systemic issues, and design solutions that enhance agility, efficiency, and collaboration.
  • Deep understanding of business strategy and operating models, with ability to align organisational structures and workforce capability to mission-critical priorities.
  • Proactive and results-oriented, with a strong sense of urgency to deliver transformation outcomes and measurable impact.
  • Excellent facilitation and influencing skills, able to lead complex group processes, drive consensus, and manage stakeholder alignment across multiple functions.
  • Expertise in survey and assessment design, including employee listening tools (pulse surveys, engagement diagnostics, organisational network analysis) to inform organisational health interventions.
  • Advanced analytical capability, proficient in interpreting organisational and workforce data to generate actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Familiarity with digital enablement platforms and BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for organisational health dashboards and predictive analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across divisions, functions, and levels, fostering a culture of inclusion, agility, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong cultural agility and engagement focus, able to embed behaviours that support innovation, psychological safety, and employee experience excellence.
