Job Summary

The Land Transaction Lead will be responsible for overseeing and managing all land acquisition, disposal, and transaction processes to ensure legal compliance, commercial viability, and timely completion. The role focuses on due diligence, stakeholder coordination, contract negotiation, and risk management related to land transactions. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with strong experience in land administration, real estate transactions, or infrastructure projects.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Land, Title and Conveyancing Control

  • Manage and verify all the company’s title deeds, leases and land records.
  • Lead land transfers, successions, subdivisions, leases and registrations.
  • Track the status of every parcel in the company’s land bank.
  • Identify and resolve missing titles, registry inconsistencies, overlaps, road reserves and encroachments.

2. Development and Site Protection

  • Confirm which buildings, hatcheries, houses, warehouses and infrastructure sit on which parcel numbers.
  • Ensure all developments are situated on properly titled land, covered by valid legal rights and do not encroach on third-party property.
  • Support lenders, valuers, auditors and investors on land verification.

3. Community and Landowner Transactions

  • Support negotiations and documentation with landowners, beneficiaries in succession matters and community representatives.
  • Ensure contracts, payment milestones and land handovers are legally enforceable.

4. Registry and Government Interface

  • Liaise directly with lands registries, surveyors, valuers, county offices and advocates.
  • Follow up on all applications, searches, consents and registrations.

5. Legal and Compliance Support at Farm Level

  • Support local disputes, labor issues, regulatory inspections, notices and enforcement actions.
  • Assist the central legal team on investigations and compliance matters affecting the farm.

Educational Qualifications, Experience, & Skills Required

  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya or LLB with strong conveyancing background.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in conveyancing, land law and registries and succession matters.
  • Proven hands-on experience with land transfers, subdivisions, title regularization and community land issues.
  • Strong knowledge of land law and conveyancing practices.
  • Excellent follow-up skills with the ability to navigate land registries effectively.
  • Ability to work in rural and operational environments.
  • High integrity with strong document control.
  • Comfortable engaging with community and government stakeholders.
