Job Summary

We are searching for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to provide high quality charging service, basic troubleshooting, timely reporting and operational support for BasiGo’s electric buses.  This is an opportunity for individuals to become part of a fast-growing electric vehicle company and support the operations of the state-of-the-art electric buses in Kenya. Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs charging of Electric buses in accordance with charging guidelines, requirements and BasiGo policy and procedures.
  • Performs interior and exterior  Electric bus Inspection in accordance with BasiGo Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Performs minor basic inspections of the electric bus internal and external bus lighting systems, vehicle safety equipment, horn, windshield wipers, mirrors and lights.
  • Reports on defects and/or symptoms of impending failure as identified through minor inspections or as reported by the drivers and conductors. 
  • Identifies and reports to the Vehicle Service and Customer Experience teams on any maintenance and/or repairs found necessary on the charging infrastructure and all BasiGo Assets.
  • Records bus check-in/ check-out and all other parameters, including parts used and repairs and/or maintenance conducted on appropriate company form(s).
  • Commit to working safely based on OSHA and BasiGo standards to avoid personal injuries.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, productive and efficient work area including ensuring the work area is in compliance with all relevant guidelines and requirements as well as BasiGo standards.

Educational Qualifications, Experience, & Skills Required

  • Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • A valid driving licence would be desirable.
  • Flexibility to work based on the demands of the business, which require working shifts, i.e. evenings and weekends.
  • Basic operations understanding, including fundamental computer knowledge and communication skills. 
  • Good interpersonal skills witha  good command of spoken English and Kiswahili
  • Physical work – the role involves lots of physical work and movement, so the suitable candidate must be physically fit.
  • Strong team player who is ready to collaborate and achieve the best result for the team.
  • Enterprising, self-starter who is adaptable to the changing dynamics of a start-up business.
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful, diligent, and able to operate independently with limited supervision (completing assigned work accurately and in a timely manner).
  • Physical and Environmental Demands include but are not limited to the following: lifting, bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, sitting, standing, working from ladders, walking, confined quarters, excessive noise, and high voltage.
